It’s been over a decade since we were first
acquainted with Daniel Anderson, who made his
name leading The Rags to much promise and minor
glory. If there was a feeling of unfulfilled potential
with that group, who took an age to release their
very fine debut album and promptly split up,
the singer is hoping to rectify the situation in a
solo capacity. Doing a Moz and dropping his first
name, Anderson heads down an altogether more
reflective, folksy route as he goes it alone, though
the newer numbers share the same DNA imprint of
quality as his rockier back catalogue. A debut single
and EP arrived in 2013, and there have been support
slots for Villagers, which shows you where his music
now lies. A new album this year and it will actually
be his most productive handful of years to date.
We’re calling it a purple patch.
