In the rich tradition of Scandinavian pop groups that
walk the line between the blissful and downbeat,
NoNoNo's happy/sad pop has yielded the quasihit
'Pumpin' Blood', which found an audience in
the US by dint of featuring on a Samsung Galaxy
commercial. An alliance between producers
Tobias Jimson and Michel Flygare and singer Stina
Wappling, NoNoNo represents a belated triumph
for the trio. Wappling signed her first record deal
aged 17, relocating to the UK to collaborate with
various songwriters. However, sparks failed to fly
and she found herself back in Sweden working as
a psychiatric nurse. Salvation came when she met
Jimson and Flygare – their creative chemistry was undeniable and after a few sessions together they
wrote ‘Pumpin' Blood’. "We don't really analyse the
music we make," he says. “Because if you calculate
it, that's when it can get a little bit cheesy."
