It’s safe to say Irish hip hop is no longer the joke
it used to be. Not only have our young rappers
and producers upped their game, they’re turning
in efforts that could take on the world. Already
on the scene for a few years, Sammy Dozens was
victorious in the inaugural End Of The Weak Ireland
competition in 2012. A Sons Phonetic member, his
unique flow somehow makes the Irish accent seem
like it was made for this music, while his unclichéd,
unflinching flow and deft wordplay feels like a
breath of fresh air. With beats like the luxurious
‘Ready For War’, which sounds like ice-cold water
flowing through your head, he’s well on his way to
being the Rolls-Royce of Irish rap. His Lucid Dream
EP was released last year, with production coming
from Dozens himself, Danny Diggs and Mook.
Apparently, recent recording sessions have been the
best he’s ever had.
