With their frizzy mullets and dislocated stares,
it's instantly obvious that Temples aren't just
another workaday Britrock crew. From Kettering,
a small town in the English midlands, their music
is an appropriately bucolic blend of full pedal
psychedelia and vintage glam. Started as a loose
alliance between guitarist James Edward Bagshaw
and bassist Thomas Warmsley, their career has
pursued an unlikely route: the pair were required
to put a band together on the fly after some
early YouTube demos saw half-a-dozen record
labels vying for their signature. Single 'Shelter
Song' has enjoyed heavy UK airplay and they've
received resounding endorsements from Johnny
Marr and Noel Gallagher – with characteristic
understatement, the former Oasis man
proclaimed them the "best new band in Britain".
It's harder to disagree than you might imagine.
