You wait YEARS for an indie pop group named for
a Suede ditty and then two come along at once
(how disappointing none of this year's crop of
debutantes saw fit to call themselves The Metal
Mickies). Actually, you wonder if this Portland,
Oregon, crew are aware of the Suede connection,
or of '60s New York rockers The Wild Ones for that
matter. About as far from mockneyed Britrock
as it's possible to go, Wild Ones specialise in
twinkling electro-pop, their melody-slathered
sound skating close to twee but never quite
plunging over the side. For those who have lain
awake wondering what a keyboard splashed
Belle and Sebastian might sound like, here is your
answer.
